Bears To Sit 16 Players For Preseason Opener

CHICAGO (670 The Score) -- The Bears will sit out 16 players in their preseason opener against the Panthers at Soldier Field on Thursday night.

The Bears announced 90 minutes from kickoff that they will sit the following players: receiver Allen Robinson II, receiver Taylor Gabriel, running back Tarik Cohen, guard Kyle Long, tight end Trey Burton, receiver Cordarrelle Patterson, tight end Adam Shaheen, cornerback Prince Amukamara, cornerback Kyle Fuller, cornerback Buster Skrine, safety Eddie Jackson, linebacker Khalil Mack, linebacker Danny Trevathan, linebacker Leonard Floyd, defensive tackle Akiem Hicks and cornerback Kevin Toliver II (illness).


Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky will be in uniform and is expected to play what should only be a short portion of the game. Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has already been ruled out of action by Carolina's coaching staff.
