CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Kenosha residents had mixed reactions to the visits this week by President Trump and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden in response to the police shooting of Jacob Blake.
Vernell Patterson is a Biden supporter, who said he's glad both candidates visited Kenosha.
Patterson said he hopes the visits encourage supporters of the two candidates to come together and work on solutions for Kenosha.
"As long as we are using it in a positive way, instead of putting each other down and pointing the finger," he said.

There are also supporters of both candidates, who believe the visits were purely political, because Wisconsin is considered a key swing state.
"They want to win this state, when it comes to being elected in the United States of America. They want to prove themselves, and I think that's what they are doing. That's the only reason why they are coming here," said Robert, who is a Trump supporter.
Kenneth Turner, who backs President Trump, believes the visits were the right thing to do in part, because it might convince more of their followers to come together to bring needed reforms in Kenosha and across the country.
Some Trump and Biden supporters WBBM Newsradio spoke with said they wish the candidates had come sooner, while others said it was too soon for them to visit without giving Kenosha more time to heal from the Blake shooting and the aftermath before visiting.
