CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- As students enter another week of staying at home, a local maker space for kids is preparing more distance learning.
Like all other non-essential businesses, Bit Space has closed the doors of its maker labs in Lincoln Square and Wilmette; however, CEO Neesha Rahim said they will soon be offering small online classes to keep kids thinking during this extended break from school.
"Everything from vector graphics to 3-D modeling to video game design, and really more than that in a series of interactive, highly-engaging workshops," she said.
Rahim said while the educational component is important, the lessons will also provide a chance for kids to connect while in isolation.
Daily workshops and livestreams are slated to begin next week and a week-long camp the week after that, during what would have been the CPS spring break.
Before that they will post - for free - some daily challenges on Facebook and Instagram by Wednesday.
