(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A body found in the West Branch of the DuPage River this week is that of an 18-year-old woman who was swept away by high waters earlier this month, the DuPage County Coroner’s Office said.

An examination confirms the deceased is Anna DeJong of West Chicago, the coroner said. She was last seen on May 15 when she was swept off a flooded bridge at Winfield Mounds Forest Preserve while walking her dogs.

DeJong is believed to have drowned.

First-responders and volunteers spent several hours trying to locate DeJong.
