CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — At least two George Floyd protests made their way through parts of Chicago Thursday, including one demonstration that proposed “de-funding” the Chicago Police Department.

Miles away, another large demonstration was also hard to ignore. This group of hundreds of marchers started in Oak Park and moved into Chicago’s Austin neighborhood, to the 15th Police District station. Participants of this demonstration told WBBM Newsradio’s Jim Gudas the route was chosen in part to show the disparities between affluent Oak Park, which is considered diverse and inclusive, and some of the distressed areas in Chicago just a few steps away.

Earlier Thursday, another Oak Park demonstration was staged by children and teens and some parents outside Village Hall. Youths said they don’t want their future clouded by racism.
