CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Work started Monday at Chicago's northernmost beach in hopes of getting back some of the land that's been lost to erosion.
Two and a half years ago, when Jenny Learner moved into her lakefront apartment bordering Juneway Terrace Beach, she says there was no erosion.
"It happened really quickly. There's always been a beach here. This was a beautiful beach,” she said.
Work crews have now brought in gravel, she said, and they've taken out a tree and gotten organized for the job ahead of bolstering the beach.
"I've heard they're also going to do boulders, a special kind of boulder. So we'll see,” she said.
"Anything's better than what it was, because the lake is clearly going towards Eastlake."

Work at Juneway is expected to take four to five weeks.
