Coming Soon: Cherry Blossoms At Jackson Park

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Chicago Park District says we might see the Jackson Park cherry trees in bloom by the end of this week.

"I don't know of any other trees that people wait on the bloom with such bated breath,” Karen Szyjka, operations support manager at the Chicago Park District, said Monday.

People have been asking for awhile now about when the cherry trees - most of them planted six years ago – will be blooming.

"And each time somebody asks us, the date gets pushed further and further back,” Szyjka said.

"The main thing that it's going to depend upon is the warm days and how many more warm consistent days that we have. That will push the bud growth much sooner."
