  • On Friday, Gov. Pritzker said Illinois surpassed its daily goal of testing 10,000 people for the novel coronavirus, testing 16,124 people in the span of a day. MORE DETAILS HERE
  • NEW NUMBERS: The good news was tempered by grim new statistics. Illinois announced its largest daily jump in new coronavirus cases — 2,724. That brings the state’s total number of cases to date to 39,658. Officials have said a jump in positive results is expected when testing increases.
  • State Rep. Darren Bailey, R-Xenia is suing Pritzker over the stay-at-home extension, saying the governor lacked the authority to extend the order without the legislature’s approval. READ MORE HERE
  • Pritzker has made it official: Residents will soon be required to wear a mask or at least cover the bottom half of their faces when they venture out into crowds. Effective May 1, the new requirement comes after a long and delicate dance by public officials about whether to impose the safeguard against the spread of the novel coronavirus, which is transmitted in part by airborne droplets from infected people.
