ELGIN, Ill. (WBBM Newsradio) – Authorities are investigating after the body of a female was recovered from the Fox River in Elgin on Sunday afternoon.
Elgin police said detectives responded to the area just north of the Kimball Street Bridge at about 3:51 p.m., where the body was found in the river.
The Elgin Fire Department and the Kane County Coroner's Office responded to the scene and recovered the body.
Officials have not released the identity of the victim. The Kane County Coroner's Office is working to determine the person's identity, as well as the cause and manner of death.
Police said the investigation remains active, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
