Interim Police Supt. Charlie Beck with the officers' families, "godspeed." He said he never met the officers, but he knows them.
"I know them, because they walked those dark streets. They stood on the ramparts. They protected others at the expense of their own safety. They were true cops, real police, good police," Supt. Beck said.

December 15, 2019 Last Dec., Officers Marmolejo & Gary placed themselves in harm’s way to protect Chicago. Like all Chicago cops, they made that journey up to the tracks to engage gun violence head on & until their final moments, had each other’s backs. Today at 9a, we honor them @ 727 E 111th St pic.twitter.com/NZT2i3rsan
