CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Thousands of parents may have been smiling a bit more Friday in Chicago, as their children returned to school after missing 11 class days because of a teachers' strike."I think it’s great. They were looking forward to going back to school," said Henrietta Parker, as she dropped off her 7th grade son at Kellogg Elementary School in the North Beverly neighborhood, although he would have preferred not returning on a Friday. Fellow Kellogg School parent Howie Ross supported the teachers’ demands, except for holding out for make-up days.
"Glad it's finally over," he said.
Ross was also glad CPS football teams that qualified for the state playoffs would still get to compete this weekend.
