CTA Takes Down St. Patrick's Day Decor At Kimball Brown Line; Bans Employees From Decorating

 St. Patrick's Day decorations

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Some CTA riders are not happy that the CTA ordered the removal of St. Patrick’s Day decorations at a station on the city's Northwest Side.

For years, a CTA employee has put up elaborate holiday decorations at the Kimball station on the Brown Line where she works. She has done Christmas, Mother's Day, Pride Week, and most recently St. Patrick's Day.

The removal was not sitting well with riders, who spoke to CBS 2.

“I think they’re cute. They make me smile in the morning,” said CTA rider Katie Childs.

“Awesome decorations. I actually got a picture of the decorations on my phone,” said regular CTA rider McKlain Cadet.

The employee did her first Pride installation with rainbows last summer, and was told to take it down until reporters started asking questios.

Now the CTA said a new policy bans all employees from decorating.
