DOLTON (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Dolton authorities say a police officer shot and wounded a robbery suspect this afternoon — and the search is on for the robbery getaway driver.
Authorities said a 21-year veteran of the Dolton Police Department confronted a robber at a car credit center at Sibley Boulevard and Chicago Avenue about 1:30 p.m. They said the robber pulled a gun on the officer, who then shot and wounded the robber.
Authorities added the officer injured his back in the incident but was not shot.
Meanwhile, there's a search for a second person, the getaway car driver.
Initial reports had said the officer was shot but WBBM found that was not the case.
