ELMWOOD PARK (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Laura Moreci, of Elmwood Park, has been struggling to make end meet after her breast cancer diagnosis.

However, the mother of two with special needs has not let her health hinder her from volunteering and fostering children, even after her home furnace broke down in March.

"Eveything broke down in my house," Moreci said.

Thankfully, she was chosen as part of a program called “Feel the Love” by furnace manufacturer Lennox, who works with distributors and installers to find people in need. Today, Moreci received a new furnace free of charge.

Lennox partnered with Itasca-based ARS Rescue Rooter, installing the new furnace in Moreci’s home so she can be warm as colder weather approaches.

Moreci said she was grateful and humbled to be on the receiving end of a good deed.

"I'm very blessed," she said. "I see God's work in all areas of my life and I feel joy in this illness that I have right now."

Moreci is undergoing chemo at $12,000 a month, which hinders her from working full-time. Though things have been difficult, she said they are finally coming together.    As for the new furnace, she said it will help her beat cancer and get healthy again.

"It'll mean that I'll be able to rest and recuperate and fight this illness in the comfort of a warm, comfortable, cozy house," she said.
