CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Mayor Emanuel gushed about the significance of this week's Chicago mayoral election votes, but declined to take sides as two African-American women square off to be his successor.
Emanuel said voters' selection of Lori Lightfoot and Toni Preckwinkle, who emerged as the top two vote-getters Tuesday, says good things about Chicago.
Emanuel said both Lightfoot and Preckwinkle have a lot to offer Chicago. He didn’t signal any favorites before Tuesday’s election and he said he won’t do so now.
The mayor was at the groundbreaking for a new building at South Loop Elementary School on Tuesday.
Lightfoot and Preckwinkle’s runoff election is April 2.
