(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Just days after she was struck by a pickup truck in west suburban St. Charles, a 7-year-old girl is back home, and -- according to a recent visitor -- is in great spirits.
Kane County Sheriff Ron Hain called Lexi Hanson's recovery "a miracle."
"We went from 2 p.m. on Sunday, not knowing if she was going to make it, to Wednesday night when she got released," Hain told WBBM. "We're just so happy that she's made such a quick return."
When Hain heard the news, he was sure to be one of Lexi's first visitors.
"She hopped off the couch and gave me a hug. We already felt like we'd known each other for years," he said Thursday.
Quartuccio is being held on $500,000 bond.
