(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Doctors have told Gov. J.B. Pritzker to take it easy over the next several weeks, as he recovers from a hairline leg fracture that he's not sure how he got.
The governor's office says the hairline or stress fracture to his left femur happened some time ago, but in recent weeks the pain got significantly worse as the governor did a lot of standing and walking at various public events.
Dr. Patrick Birmingham, orthopedic surgeon with North Shore University Health System and one of the team doctors for the Chicago Bears, said the condition is fairly normal.
The governor's office says Pritzker is otherwise in good health and will be fully engaged in state business during the recovery period of four to six weeks.
