SPRINGFIELD (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — State public health officials announced Sunday that there are 1,403 new confirmed cases of the coronavirus disease in Illinois, including five additional confirmed deaths.
Of the five deceased, a woman in her 60s and one from her 70s in Cook County, a man in his 80s from Jefferson County, a woman in her 70s from Morgan County and a man in his 80s from Pike County.
Since the pandemic's start, Illinois has had a total of 249,580 cases, including 8,171 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health. The age of cases ranges from younger than one to older than 100 years.

The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from Aug. 30 through Sept. 5 is 4.04%, the IDPH reported. Within the past 24 hours, laboratories have reported 46,496 specimens for a total of 4,418,372. As of last night, 1,504 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 356 patients were in the intensive care unit and 134 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
