CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The state's Saturday coronavirus cases decreased slightly from Friday's but the positivity rate has been steadily increasing, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.
The department reported 1,426 new coronavirus cases and 12 new deaths Saturday, half of which were in Cook County.
The positivity rate has been 3.7% since July 18, a two-point increase from the previous week when it was at 3.4%.

As of Friday night, 1,438 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 341 patients were in the ICU and 110 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators, the department said.
Illinois now has a total of 169,883 cases, including 7,397 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois.
