FONTANA, Wis. (WBBM Newsradio) – A 57-year-old woman was killed in a boating accident Thursday evening on Lake Geneva, authorities said.
The incident happened around 8 p.m. in the village of Fontana, according to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
Officials said a boat with three people on board was attempting to dock when the Wisconsin woman fell into the water and was struck by the vessel. She was pulled from the lake but was pronounced dead at the scene.
No other injuries were reported.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is investigating the crash in coordination with the Fontana Police Department and the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office.
The accident comes as the busy boating season gets underway on Lake Geneva, a popular destination for spring and summer recreation.
