(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The number of coronavirus cases in Illinois is now 25.

There were six new cases announced Wednesday: a Lake County man in his 50s, and five cases in Chicago and Cook County -- a man in his 80s, two men in their 70s, a woman in her 50s and a man in his 40s.

Out of all 25 cases, Dr. Ngozi Ezike, director of the Illinois Department of Public Health, gave a condition update on a man in his 60s.

"Regarding our sickest patient, I will say that the situation is serious or critical -- a very sick individual. I don't want to get into too many details, but slightly improved from yesterday."

With the beginning of Major League Baseball preseason games just a couple of weeks ago, Gov. Pritzker was asked about the possibility of closing sports venues, even for awhile.

"We're considering all options here. I think if you look back at previous epidemics or outbreaks, that's always been something that's considered. So, we're taking a very serious look at that."

Pritzker again lashed out at the Trump Administration and the Centers for Disease Control, saying, "We need a lot more help."

"Yesterday, I put in calls to people at the federal government level - and I made sure they knew what my call was about - and I got no return phone call from at least two major officials I reached out to."

On access to coronavirus tests, Pritzker says: "We're not testing everybody that would like to be tested ...  We need, not thousands of tests, but tens of thousands and hundreds of thousands of tests available. And we don't have those today."

Pritkzer's latest news conference about coronavirus comes as the city of Chicago and event organizers announced there will be no St. Patrick's Day parades this weekend. Scrapped are the downtown parade slated for Saturday along Columbus Avenue and the South Side Irish Parade that would have occurred Sunday along Western Avenue.
