INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Indiana’s stay-at-home order expires at the end of the day Friday.  The Governor plans to announce Friday afternoon whether he's going to extend it or let it expire, but some businesses aren't waiting to announce their plans.

Some businesses are already making plans to reopen this weekend, perhaps jumping the gun. Simon Properties, the owner of the University Park Mall in Mishawaka and Lighthouse Place Premium Outlets in Michigan City, has announced it is back to business on Saturday. But public health departments said it is too soon, noting that cases and hospitalizations in the region are still on the rise.

On Wednesday, Governor Eric Holcomb was not sounding like he was going to let the stay-at-home order expire.

"I don't want to ever take a step back, because we just relax our behavior and start thinking everything is back to normal, and so, our Friday plan will reflect that," he said.

The Governor said it would not be a one-size-fits-all decision, suggesting that different parts of the state, and possibly different businesses could be under different orders.

"We have to deal with reality here, so it is not just one size fits all, where we are going to open up every business and go back to the way it was. That won't be included on May 1," Holcomb said.
