(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — There’s a bit of a family squabble in the political LaHood dynasty in Peoria, Illinois.

Congressman Darin LaHood, a Republican from the central Illinois city, is co-chairman Trump Campaign in Illinois. He expected to be at the White Thursday night to hear the president accept the GOP’s nomination to run for a second term.

His father is former U.S. Representative Ray LaHood, also a Republican, who served as U.S. Transportation Secretary for Democratic President Barack Obama. The elder LaHood has said he will support Joe Biden, who was Obama’s vice president.

It is what it is, the younger LaHood tells WBBM Newsradio.

“My dad’s a Republican, and there’s been a lot of talk this week about how all these Republicans now are supporting Biden. Every single one of them is out of office now. They don’t have to go face the voters,” Darin LaHood said.

LaHood said the people of his district are worried about things like the economy and the type of lawlessness seen in Chicago and Kenosha, Wisconsin.
