(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot says the city is moving ever so closer to getting back to normal.

Her office on Monday released a satirical video on Twitter that effectively says: Welcome back, Chicago.

Lightfoot proclaims, “We can go out!” — with qualifications. Although Chicagoans helped bend the curve of coronavirus infections, they still must practice social distancing and wear masks in situations where they cannot keep that distance, she says.

At the end of the video, Lightfoot has some fun by confronting the stern-faced meme that sprang up after she ordered popular public spaces temporarily closed.

The mayor removes a life-sized cutout of her stern self and replaces it with a smiling version of herself.

“That’s better,” she says.

We each did our part to flatten the curve, and now we are slowly reopening the City. Let's keep up the good work—let's #BeSafeChicago. Thank you for being in this together. pic.twitter.com/cHg1cFZ1G0
