CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Chicago Department of Transportation announced Monday that Lower Wacker Drive from Randolph Street to Harrison Street is expected to remain closed to traffic through Saturday night, May 23.

The closure is required to allow for pumping flood waters out of the basement of Willis Tower and for the completion of concrete road work on Lower Wacker.

According to CDOT, access to Lower Wacker will be allowed for delivery vehicles. Upper Wacker Drive is not affected by the closures and will serve as a detour route.

Southbound Lower Wacker Drive traffic will be detoured to Southbound Upper Wacker (using the Randolph ramp), to Westbound Van Buren Street, to Southbound Canal Street, to Eastbound Harrison Street.

Northbound Lower Wacker Drive traffic will be detoured to Northbound Franklin Street, to Eastbound Wacker Drive, and back to Lower Wacker Drive (at Columbus Drive).

The Monroe Street entrance ramp to Lower Wacker Drive will be closed as part of this work.

Additional signage will be provided to traffic exiting Congress Parkway/I-290 at Lower Wacker to use the indicated detour starting at Franklin.
