CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- It's a storefront with a secret mission.
"We started in 2005 so we're about to enter our 15th year, which is awesome," said Nyre Nah, Store Coordinator.
Wicker Park Secret Agent Supply Company, located at 1276 N. Milwaukee Ave., may look like a regular book and gift store.
"This store is sort of the tip of the iceberg. People walk in to buy our merchandise, but we're actually a non-profit organization called 826 Chicago," she said.
But Nah said the former "Boring Store" is a front for something much bigger.
"Rather than being a store that happens to be a charitable component, we are the non-profit itself. Every purchase go toward 826 Chicago," she said.
Wicker Park Secret Agent Supply Company, tapping into your inner spy while helping students tap into their inner creativity.
826FORK will be Thursday, July 18 at 7 p.m. It's a night of original music adapted from 826CHI student writing, featuring 11 bands, and the works of 11 student authors (ranging from ages 6-18).
