(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Round Lake Beach Police are reporting a snowmobile accident, one in which there was no snow on the ground.

An absence of snow apparently didn't stop a 52-year-old Round Lake Beach man from riding a snowmobile Friday night.

Round Lake Beach Police told the Lake County News Sun they were called to a school near a park about 10:30 p.m. and found a man who had facial injuries.

He had reportedly hit tree branches as he was riding a snowmobile

Police said his injuries were minor.

A Round Lake Beach police officer told the Lake County News Sun: “Snowmobile accidents are very rare in Round Lake Beach, even more rare when there is no snow on the ground.”
