(WBBM NEWSRADIO)-- Thanks to police, social media and a good citizen, a nursing home resident who walked away from his group at Brookfield Zoo Saturday has now been found, safe.
After Riverside Police Chief Tom Weitzel shared photos of 53-year-old Frederic Davis with WBBM and other newsrooms, someone who follows Riverside Police on Twitter saw the photos. On Tuesday, Davis was spotted in downtown Chicago.
"Within 48 hours, we located him. So, this is a really good ending to a situation where I think it's really incumbent upon the police to really make all efforts to locate somebody, regardless of the situation," he said.
"Whether it's a juvenile, an adult, someone with special needs, somebody in a medical condition. You really need to put all your efforts into recovering missing people."
Weitzel says Davis was not hurt and did not need medical attention.
