
LAKE COUNTY, IND. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Starting Monday people in Lake County, Indiana will be able to go out to eat and get haircuts.
It’s the first time since March that Hoosiers will be able to dine-in at restaurants and go to salons in Lake County.
Bars that don’t serve food are not open yet under Gov. Eric Holcomb’s "Back on Track" plan and restaurants will be at half capacity with staffers wearing masks. Tattoo parlors, hair and nail salons are open by appointment only, with stations six feet apart. Northwest Indiana’s higher rates delayed its reopening where most of the state began to a week ago. The state has just under 28,000 cases of coronavirus and 1,607 deaths.
The Northwest Indiana Times reported some restaurants like Octave Grill in Chesterton will stay carryout and delivery only, saying it’s doing so for the safety of their staff families and the community.
In Gary, you’ll have to wait until next Sunday to go to restaurants and shops.
Casinos aren’t likely to reopen until June 14 with half capacity cleanings of slot machines after each gambler and limits at tables.
