WWII Artillery Shell Found In Brighton Park, Police Say It Was 'Likely Live'

A person located a WWII artillery shell in Brighton Park on Chicago's Southwest Side, police said.

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A person located a "likely live" WWII artillery shell in Chicago's Brighton Park neighborhood on the Southwest Side, police said.

According to police, the WWII artillery shell was found in the 3000 block of W. 38th Pl. earlier this week. 

District personnel responded to the scene and summoned the bomb squad, police said on Twitter.

Police said the bomb squad removed it from the scene to an alternate location.

After x-raying the artillery shell, police determined it was "likely live."
