(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A hostage situation at a Rockford bank that dragged on for more than six hours came to a peaceful end Friday evening.
The incident began around 2:30 p.m. at the Heritage Credit Union on State and Milford Streets. Rockford police said the suspect surrendered just after 9 p.m., releasing the hostage he had held.
Rockford police worked with the FBI and say the suspect had outstanding warrants, but they don't believe the suspect knew the hostage, a female bank employee.
