(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A 28-year-old Chicago man has been charged following a spree of knife attacks on sleeping homeless men.
Bryant McCalip, who was arrested Thursday, faces three counts of attempted first-degree murder and of aggravated battery. He is expected to appear in bond court this weekend, Chicago Police said.
Authorities allege he is the suspect who stabbed several victims in July and August. The attacks on sleeping homeless men occurred in Grant Park and on or near CTA property, according the Chicago Sun-Times.
Authorities have said four men were attacked, including one who was found dead in the park July 9 with a knife in his neck.
Details were not available Friday about whether the charges relate to all of the attacks.
Chicago police released surveillance images this week in hopes of identifying the suspect.
