CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- State police shut down parts of I-57 twice on Saturday to investigate shootings on the expressway in the south suburbs.
In the evening, someone apparently fired shots from one vehicle at another in the northbound lanes near 127th Street, Illinois State Police said.
Troopers responded at 6:30 p.m. and found one person in a vehicle with "a minor injury," police said. They were not taken to a hospital.
All inbound lanes of the expressway were closed for hours for an investigation.
Earlier in the day, a man was shot on I-57 about 1 a.m. near 111th Street, police said.
A 19-year-old man from Urbana was shot about 1 a.m. while driving southbound on I-57 about half a mile north of 111th Street, police said. The shots were apparently fired from another vehicle.
He pulled off the expressway and stopped at a gas station near 111th and Ashland Avenue to call authorities, state police said. He was taken to a hospital with a gunshot wound that was not thought to be life-threatening.
His 19-year-old passenger, a man from Georgia, was uninjured, police said.
Troopers closed down all southbound lanes on I-57 until about 3:50 a.m., police said. State police are investigating.
