CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Police are warning residents about a group of carjackers who held up two ride-hailing service drivers last month in West Garfield Park on the West Side.

In each case, two or three males approached a driver who was parking or already parked and ordered the driver out of the vehicle at gunpoint, according to a community alert from Chicago police.

The first carjacking happened about 1 a.m. Jan. 13 in the 100 block of North Kostner Avenue, police said. The other happened about 3:50 a.m. Friday in the 4300 block of West Maypole Avenue.

The suspects wore ski masks and were armed with a “large handgun,” according to police. They were described as a group of two to three males between 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-11 weighing 150 to 200 pounds.

Anyone with information is asked to call Area North detectives at 312-744-8263.
