Indiana Governor Orders All Restaurants, Bars To Close For 2 Weeks Amid Coronavirus Pandemic

Closed Sign

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Indiana bars, nightclubs and restaurants will be required to close until the end of the month to combat the spread of coronavirus, Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb announced in a statement Monday.

Restaurants will still be able to provide take-out and delivery services, Holcomb said.

Holcomb is expected to speak on the order in a Monday afternoon news conference.

The state is following recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and is limiting gatherings to those with 50 people or less, he said.

Hospitals have been asked to cancel or postpone elective surgeries immediately, Holcolmb said.

Indiana state parks and recreation centers, including state park inns, remain open, according to the statement.

On Sunday, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker ordered all Illinois bars and restaurants to close their dine-in operations at the end of the business day on Monday.
