CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A man was shot Wednesday on a CTA Blue Line train near the UIC-Halsted station on the Near West Side.
There was an argument on the westbound Blue Line train, and police said right before the doors opened, a man shot another man and took his backpack.
"Our victim was shot once in the back. He was transported to an area hospital in serious, but stable condition," said Chicago Police Spokesman Anthony Guglielmi.
Chicago Police Spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said the shooting happened at about 10:45 a.m. at the station in the 400 block of South Halsted Street. Paramedics took the man, reported to be in his 30s, to Stroger Hospital, according to Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Merritt.
"We're making very good progress on the case. The CTA transit network is saturated in high-definition crime cameras. So if you want to commit a crime on the CTA, you're going to get caught, because we're going to have high-definition videos of you," Guglielmi said
About an hour after the shooting, Guglielmi shared a photo of a possible suspect.

The offender fled west, according to police.
