Tarik Cohen Confident In Bears' Quarterback Battle

(670 The Score) After the Bears acquired veteran quarterback Nick Foles in a trade with the Jaguars in March, incumbent starter Mitchell Trubisky quickly embraced the idea of competition coming to Chicago.

So too did Bears running back Tarik Cohen -- not because he has any preference between Trubisky or Foles but because he feels the quarterback competition will make the team better.

"We're about to get the best out of everybody now," Cohen said on a teleconference last week. "Like Coach (Matt) Nagy said, competition breeds success. And I just love that.

"I feel like it's just two brothers on team just competing for one spot. So they're just going to have to get at it."

The Bears are hoping to begin their quarterback battle in earnest when training camp is scheduled to start in late July. But Cohen has already seen a sample of Trubisky's work this offseason.

Cohen has been a part of the groups organized by Trubisky working together in Chicago-area parks. He sees a quarterback in Trubisky who's highly motivated to respond this season.

Teammates since 2017, Cohen said Trubisky is "slinging it" during their workouts.

"You still see the talent in Mitch," Cohen said. "He's still making throws on the run. It's the normal Mitch you see when he's playing at his best."
