(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Three teenagers from Chicago were charged Thursday in DuPage County in connection with several armed carjackings in the western suburbs.
DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said Emanuel Embry and Daysean Washington-Davis, both 19, and a 17-year-old boy were involved in armed carjackings on Nov. 30 and last Friday in Downers Grove.
Berlin says they also carjacked a vehicle last Friday in Warrenville, but a friend of the victim who also had a gun followed the vehicle to Woodridge, got out of his car and confronted the teens. Berlin says the 17-year-old jumped in the car of the victim's friend and took off.
Local, state and federal investigators teamed up to track down the teens, Berlin said.
Embry and Washington-Davis face up to 45 years in prison if convicted, Berlin said. Prosecutors are seeking to charge the 17-year-old boy as an adult, and he could face the same sentence if convicted.
