(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Demonstrators gathered at Chicago's Federal Plaza and several other places around the Chicago area Tuesday evening in support of the impeachment of President Trump.
At Naperville's Riverwalk, hundreds of protesters, including Bob Landolfi of Naperville, demanded the House vote to impeach Mr. Trump and the Senate conduct what Landolfi called "a fair trial."
The President and his supporters say the impeachment process is based on political rather than legal grounds. Trump said he looks forward to what he calls a "fair trial" in the Senate, which is controlled by Republicans.
In addition to the rallies in Naperville and in Chicago's Federal Plaza, pro-impeachment demonstrations were held in Evanston, Elmhurst, Western Springs, Glenview, St. Charles, Mount Prospect, Crystal Lake, Frankfort, Woodstock and in Beverly on Chicago's South Side.
