CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The pastor of an Episcopal church in south suburban Flossmoor said a vandal may not have realized the community response he or she would trigger by marking up a Black Lives Matter banner.Father Jeremy Froyen was on vacation in Florida last week when he was notified that the Black Lives Matter banner that had been displayed on the church’s yard had been vandalized.Outside St. John the Evangelist Church, the word “Black” had been spray-painted over with the word “All”. Fr. Froyen posted a picture on Facebook.
"I got a message from one of our neighbors on Friday morning asking if she could put her yard sign in our yard. She had made the comment that not seeing that banner left an empty spot for her and she wanted to do something about it," he said.By the time he returned home, Fr. Froyen said there were about 20 Black Lives Matter signs on the church’s grounds along with messages of support in chalk on the sidewalk.
