CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Just because you have to stay at home, doesn't mean you cannot celebrate Cinco de Mayo!
Cinco de Mayo, or May 5, is a holiday that celebrates the date of the Mexican army's victory over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla, on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza. The day, which falls on Tuesday, May 5 in 2020, is also known as Battle of Puebla Day. While it is a relatively minor holiday in Mexico, in the United States, Cinco de Mayo has evolved into a commemoration of Mexican culture and heritage, particularly in areas with large Mexican-American populations.
And it just so happens that Cinco de Mayo falls on Tuesday - which in popular culture, Tuesdays are referred to as Taco Tuesday - so it is a double celebration!
Celebrate Cinco de Mayo at home with Chicago’s favorite Mexican fast-casual concept, Big Wig Tacos & Burritos. On Tuesday, May 5, only, customers can get a burrito, plus a Modelo Beer or three tacos, plus a Modelo Beer for $10. Guests have their choice of proteins, including skirt steak, barbacoa, chicken, chorizo, avocado, or veggies, as well as toppings like onions, cilantro, pinto beans, lettuce, tomato, sour cream, and cheese.
This promotion is available via its website only, www.bigwigtacos.com, for delivery or pick-up. Please note that the tacos must all have the same toppings and meat to receive the $10 deal. ID’s will be checked upon delivery/pickup.
Looking to make it a party? Add nachos, rice & beans, chips & guac, chips & queso to any order for a more festive Cinco celebration.
