CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- An 18th District Chicago Police officer rescued an injured falcon Thursday morning near Illinois Street and Lake Shore Drive and got some help from a homeless woman.

It's part of Thomas Baker's job as a community policing officer to check on the homeless.

"One of my regular homeless patrons came up and said, 'Hey, Officer Baker, I need you to come over here for a second.'

"And I was like, 'Uh-oh.'  She's like, 'No - you see the bird over there?'

"And I was like, 'Oh, yeah...Do you know what happened?'

"The funny part of the story was, the homeless lady - she was like, 'Officer Baker, I've got to do something nice for you.'

"And she went to Starbucks and bought me a refresher drink from the local Starbucks over there and brought it back for me for helping her save the bird."
