ROMEOVILLE (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A woman was killed and an Illinois State Police trooper was injured in a crash Friday on I-55 in southwest suburban Romeoville.

Danielle Nino, 33, was driving a yellow Fiat on southbound I-55 about 1:55 a.m. when she lost control in a construction zone just north of Weber Road, according to a statement from Illinois State Police.

The Fiat rolled over across the left two lanes and hit an ISP squad car stopped on the left shoulder, state police said. Nino, who lived in Hazel Crest, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The trooper inside the squad car was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not thought to be life threatening, according to state police. There were no passengers in either vehicle and no other injuries were reported.

Southbound lanes were blocked while authorities investigated the crash, but they were reopened just before 7 a.m., state police said.
