Someone inside a white car opened fire at a red car, but instead hit a woman walking nearby as the attack also caused a crash on the Near North Side Monday night.
Around 9:30 p.m., someone inside a white sedan approached a red vehicle in the first block of East Chicago Avenue and began shooting, Chicago police said.
A 25-year-old woman was walking outside and was struck in the thigh by gunfire, police said. She was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where she was in fair condition.
The red vehicle was struck by gunfire and crashed into a black SUV, video shows.
Area 3 detectives were investigating.
