U.S. District Judge Robert Gettleman on Wednesday issued a temporary restraining order saying federal authorities must improve conditions inside the Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in west suburban Broadview, including allowing for showers, clean toilets, and three meals a day.

Detainees must also be allowed to have contact with their attorneys and interpreters.

Plaintiffs brought a class-action lawsuit, arguing conditions at the ICE facility were inhumane.

Alexa Van Brunt with the MacArthur Justice Center said after the hearing that video footage from inside the facility is missing.

"I think the video evidence, especially given that we don't have an inspection yet, is essential. It is pretty wild to me that there is missing footage from the 19th of October to the 31st of October and that covers the time our clients were in Broadview."

The temporary restraining order will be in effect for 14 days, until November 19, when the judge will hold another hearing.
