(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Two people are confirmed dead in a crash involving an SUV and a school bus in unincorporated Kane County Monday afternoon.
Kane County Sheriff Ron Hain says the bus was transporting students from an elementary school around 3:45 p.m. when the crash happened on Empire Road near Kingswood Drive.
The SUV, which was traveling in the same direction, showed no sign of slowing down before smashing into the school bus, Hain said.
The school bus had 24 students and a driver aboard. No one on the vehicle were injured, Hain said.
Two people in the SUV – a male and a female – were pronounced dead at the scene, near Campton Hills, he said. Two other occupants reportedly were taken to Delnor Hospital with serious injuries.
No further details were available. An investigation continues.
