Two women are in custody after five people were injured during an argument that led to multiple stabbings early Saturday in Chicago Lawn on the Southwest Side.

Officers responding to a call of a stabbing found several people injured just after midnight in the 6200 block of South Kedzie Avenue, Chicago police said.

When they arrived, officers learned that an argument broke out between two groups of people. During the argument, a 29-year-old woman pulled out a sharp object and began stabbing people, police said.

Another woman, 47, also began punching several people, police said.

The injuries included a 47-year-old man who was stabbed in the eye and was taken in critical condition to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn; a man, 31, who suffered a laceration to the face and was also taken to Christ Medical Center on fair condition; and a 37-year-old man who was stabbed in the hand and taken in fair condition to the University of Chicago Medical Center.

Additionally, a 36-year-old man and a woman, whose age wasn’t known, suffered lacerations but refused medical treatment, police said.

Officers placed two women in custody and charges were pending, police said. One of the women suffered eye irritation due to a sprayed substance and was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in good condition.
