(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — An apparent explosion inside of a Sycamore paint facility Monday morning has landed two people in the hospital.
Two people are recovering after an explosion inside a Sycamore paint facility this morning.
“The potential was very bad,” Fire Chief Bart Gilmore said.
Gilmore said the department responded to Seymour of Sycamore Paint, in the 900 block of Crosby Avenue, around 8:30 a.m. after reports that a paint can had exploded.
“Initial crews came in, met some fire. The foam suppression system was not meeting the need, the sprinkler system needed to be assisted by fire engines. Eventually, a two and half was deployed to finally extinguish the fire.”
Two people were taken to nearby hospitals, Gilmore says both are in stable condition. A third person was evaluated on scene for injuries.
“We’ve heard multiple reports of what happened. We are still collecting evidence and there is some video, apparently.”
