2 killed in RV fire in Grundy County

GRUNDY COUNTY, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Two victims who were killed in an RV fire at the Love’s Travel Center in Grundy County on Wednesday morning have been identified.

The victims have been identified as William S. Davis, 52, and Chelsi A.Bates, 31, both of Mena, Arkansas.

The fire occurred at approximately 3:00 a.m. in the parking lot of the travel center, located at 8909 N. Brisbin Road in Morris, according to the Grundy County Coroner's Office.

After firefighters arrived on the scene, they "discovered a fully engulfed RV. After extinguishing the fire, Firefighters discovered the remains" of the two victims," the Coroner's report states.

An autopsy is scheduled for Friday morning. The fire and the deaths remains under investigation by Callahan’s Office and the Office of the State Fire Marshall.
