2 police officers, another person hurt after shooting in Humboldt Park

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- An overnight shooting in the Humboldt Park neighborhood sent two police officers and another person to a hospital.

Police said just after 2 a.m., the officers were on patrol on Augusta Boulevard near Hamlin when one group of people fired shots at another group walking down the street.

A bullet hit the squad car's windshield, striking one officer in their bullet-proof vest, and the other suffered facial cuts from the shattering glass. The officers did not return fire, according to Chicago Police.

They were taken to a hospital in good condition. An 18-year-old man was also wounded and is hospitalized in serious condition.

There is no one in custody at this time and no other injuries were reported. An investigation into the incident is underway.
